Meet the Artist
Deb Drow
My love of birds and all things nature-related started in my late 20’s. My husband and I each purchased a Canon 250 SLR camera. I added a 50mm closeup lens so I could capture birds, flowers, and butterflies with greater detail. I used those photographs to sketch from. He and I would spend our weekends camping, hiking, and taking our cameras with us to document our adventures.

My realistic drawing style started when I was young. My dad was an Industrial Illustrator so his career focused on detail. My brother on the other hand was adept at fine art, with pastels and later with beautiful landscape oil paintings.

I earned a Fine Arts degree in Studio Art with an emphasis in Graphic Design. This degree took me on several paths of drafting, and technical drawing, but it wasn’t what I really wanted to do. I took some time off to raise our family, and enjoy the girls growing up.

It was years later, with the onset of the COVID pandemic, that I felt the urge to get out my art supplies and start drawing wildlife again. This time I could draw what I wanted and from my own backyard!
